1.i would hate to see anyone lose their job; therefore, i would strongly recommend that the employee gets reassigned within the organization. there were few position at my old company that clogged up an already complicated hierarchy. one such title is the assistant district director. this position was redundant and only gives the employee unearned power. moreover, it added no value to team it was supposed to support. this person was just another in a long line of corporate employees that walk the store and tell the management team everything that was wrong with operations and or sales and offer few or no suggestions on improvements. for simplicity, i left out some positions. but, the director’s team comprised of an assistant director, produce/floral, meat/seafood, deli/bakery, center store, frontend, and hr specialist. each of the previously mentioned positon has its own director on a higher level, each director reports to a regional vp, each rvp reports to a vp, each vp reports to a division president. at any point during the day or night any of the employees holding the previously mentioned titles could walk the store and demand the attention of the management team. this walk could range from one to five hours. personally, i was at the receiving end of a long walk a few time in my career… painful!!! while the department specific positions added value, the assistant director was just another level of complexity that was not warranted. instead, resources allocated for such positions should be reinvest back into the stores. the person should be reassigned to the stores to support the department managers, store managers, and customers directly. my company is growing and while i question what it is exactly certain people really do i trust that my company has them there for a reason. 2. i will go with a position that could be added. my job title is inventory control manager. part of my job is ordering our international products and managing the inventories of these products for the four assembly plants. i am also the business process specialist for one of our data systems. this is all in addition to training people, writing reports, analyzing order data, managing new product launches with the plants, and reviewing safety stocks for all nine of our plant locations. i do not have a backup for my position and travel a lot. when i travel i have to maintain the ordering of product and reviews of the inventory for the international product from hotel rooms late into the night. this leaves a lot of loose ends for me to wrap up when i am in the office which honestly lately hasn’t been much. i don’t take vacations or only take a day at a time because without a backup it is extremely difficult to catch back up. even when i am not traveling i tend to work extra hours every week just to keep my head above water with the work load. i believe an assistant to my position would be wonderful. someone that could assist with some of the paperwork and chores that consume a lot of time but do not provide a whole lot of benefit to the processes such as filing and some of the reporting a follow up tasks
