1.Introduction Background Life Gizmo, inc (LGI) of Boston, MA in the USA have developed the C8F4, a very small device which can be implanted easily and without risks into a person's skull and send a signal through any avail- able network (including Life Gizmo's own LG-NET, completely covering more than 150 countries 24/7 with an uptime of 99.97%) This is the LGI C8F4 chip without its cover before implantation: GH The C8F4 has selectable covers (red, black and green); the picture below shows a C8F4 with a Green Cover implanted in a human skull: The C8F4 reports every ten minutes to LGI Headquarters the subject's position (coordinates in DMS format example: N61 11' 05.5" W130 30' 10.0) as well as the subject life status: alive or dead. The subject's life status is calculated using a secret, patent pending algorithm called LGI-MA (Mira- cle Algorithm) based on subtle nano-vibrations detected near the device with an error of 10E-4% The subject is identified by the LGI_ID which is a UID embedded into the C8F4 at manufacture. To ease the management and monitoring of the C8F4, LGI has developed a complex information system (LGI_WIZ) which is divided in several components. The problem Last month a devastating fire destroyed the LGI research and development building in Boston. All copies the LGI WIZ documentation (UML Use cases, Sequence and Class diagrams, State Charts) were burnt in a fire, so that no UML documentation is available on LGI_WIZ. All that remains after the fire is a transcript of some fragments of a recording of some meetings of the implantation process manager Dr. John M. and the LGI WIZ team leader, Don H. Your mission is to re-create some parts of the UML design documentation, filling in the missing parts in the LGI_WIZ UML diagrams for LGI's device implantation process. Transcription Fragment of a meeting between Dr. John M. and Don H. Don: So to summarize, these are all the processes we have defined until now. We have the Lab Technician doing the C8F4 assignment process the day before: he will request the next available C8F4 (they are marked as AVAILABLE as soon as they pass QC), select the cover color (red, black or green) and verify that the subject had paid the implantation fee. After that, the specific C8F4 and its cover are marked as 'ASSIGNED. This will link the C8F4 to the subject. After the actual implantation of the C8F4 into the subject, the Implantation Technician registers the successful implantation: he selects the assigned C8F4 and registers the C8F4 as 'IMPLANT- ED'... But John, what happens if the subject never shows up? John: If we have a no-show, the Lab Technician marks the assigned C8F4 as 'AVAILABLE' again and un-links the C8F4 from the subject. This will make it possible to re-assign the C8F4 to an- other subject. We call this 'C8F4 unlinking". Don: OK. Some minutes after the subject person leaves the implantation lab, the C8F4 begins to transmit its signal (they are marked as 'ACTIVE', and they remain 'ACTIVE' until the subject is dead, when it becomes 'INACTIVE) and finally we have the Implantation Manager checking that all newly implanted devices are active (we called this the 'New Implanted Report'). What hap- pens if the C8F4 does not show up in this list? John: The Implantation Manager issues a recall of the C8F4 (we remove the C8F4 from the sub- ject and the C8F4 is discarded.)" Task 1: Re-create the UML Use Case Diagram Based only on the fragment of the meeting conversation, Please complete the name of the two human actors ("2" and "4" in the diagram below) ) Please list the remaining use cases names ("#2", "#4", and "#6" in the diagram below) and their implied actors. uc Primary Use Cases Actor #1 Lab Technician Actor #2 Ok ok!
