Dog Trainer Job Profile

Task and Duties:
- Provide one-on-one instruction to dogs in the shelter, at owners' residences, and in public areas; advise owners of progress
- Transport owner to public areas for training, as needed
- Feed or provide general care for the animal during training sessions, as required
- Teach small group classes on dog behavior and techniques to manage animals, including the use of positive and ethical correction methods
- Ensure use of effective communication and problem-solving with animals and owners
- Maintain accurate records of all interactions with the animals
Required Experience, Skills:
- Minimum of one (1) year working experience as a dog trainer
- Detail oriented
- Friendly, calm, mature, and patient demeanor
- Valid driver's license, working vehicle, and insurance
- Able to occasionally lift 50 pounds
Preferred: Certificate in dog training from a reputable institution, certified animal behaviorist, CPR knowledge, and current first-aid training

Streamline operations
- Hire someone to answer the phones.
