1.There are all sorts of different people in the world, but some seem to be born a cut above others. These people born with talent and charisma are able to draw in other people and create fans, and upon these fans they become influencers. Those who set trends and become role models for others in a general public scene.
Many different influencers can have different effects on a brand's products and the consumer behavior just by existing as their own personality. There are many different products on the market, and with these products, there are different people they are suited or tailored towards.
For example, make-up is mostly tailored towers women, so when a beautiful celebrity wears a brand's make-up, it becomes something that almost any woman will want to beautify themselves. In the same sense, people are like sheep. They will follow the crowd, and only those who have the capacity to become the top sheep and lead them (celebrity/influencers), can break away from the pack.
While it is not necessarily true that we have become gullible and nave as a society, there is definitely less individuality out there now than there was before. Where many people have become so obsessed with the idea of being fans, popular culture, and existing to meet "social norms" that they have let go of their own individuality to follow the pack in order to "fit in." But sometimes, this is not always a choice. Those who live true to themselves and break from social norms are then seen are irregulars/weirdos and are outcasted and bullied. Society and social norms are not so simple as to let people who don't follow the pack live on, unless they create a unique statement that other people support, such is the case in celebrities and influencers.
The ideal influencer for my final product would likely be someone who has a broad reach, but also shares a similar marketing category. My product is a variant of the Roomba, a house cleaner. A person like Kim Kardashian who is constantly putting her home on display with a minimalist design, having a Roomba will have her fans and viewers questioning what the Roomba is and looking into it themselves. Just by her having the Roomba in the background of her home to display, even if she is not speaking about it will draw in consumers. People may comment on her videos/Instagram posts/Twitter, what is that Roomba behind you? And she will respond with our newest creation, that cleans her home for her. A celebrity like her never washes dishes, she usually has maids, but she is trying out a new self-cleaning robot "for fun."
2.There are certain characteristics and qualities that resonate with the followers of certain people, which makes them able to influence and impact consumer behavior. They may have a large following on social media, be highly respected in their industry, or have a charismatic personality that draws people in. Their personal brand is often strong and they are perceived as experts or authorities.
When it comes to influencing consumer behavior, these individuals can use their platforms to endorse or recommend products, share their experiences with a specific product or service, or create content showcasing the advantages of specific brands. Seeing someone they trust and admire endorse a product can influence their purchasing decisions, so they will consider trying it.
In terms of whether society is gullible and naive, it is not necessarily that people have become more susceptible to influence, but rather that the platforms through which influence can be exerted have multiplied and diversified. With the advent of social media, influencers can now reach and engage audiences in a new way. For many companies, influencers are becoming an increasingly important part of the marketing mix with social media's rise and the emphasis on personal branding.
A highly active social media influencer would be the ideal choice for promoting and positioning the energy drink "305 Spark" if that individual has a large following of fitness and health enthusiasts on their social media platforms. An influential fitness figure, a celebrity trainer, or an athlete with a lot of fame may be the ideal candidate. As a product that supports an active and healthy lifestyle, 305 Spark could position itself by partnering with an influencer who is passionate about health and fitness. Brands can also benefit from an influencer with a large following to reach a wider audience.
