You can do so by clicking the variable names in the table, and then download the data in Excel format. The five data series are: Gross Domestic Product Personal Consumption Expenditures Gross Private Domestic Investment Net Exports of Goods and Services Government consumption expenditures and gross investment a. Put all five data series in one Excel sheet. Delete some data, so all series are from 1970-01-01 to present. b. Compute the percentage of GDP for each component: C,1,G, NX. Plot the four percentages in one graph, from 1970 to present. c. Do you see any stable relationships in the data? Do you see any trends? d. Download monthly unemployment rate from the Fred database. Plot the unemployment rate from January of 2007 to present. Comment on what you see. 3. Explain why the value of GDP in 2012 would or would not change as a result of each transaction described below: a. In 2012, the Smith family purchases a new house that was built in 2012. b.
