Let G be the number of people driving a gas-powered car and E the number of people driving an EV. Using the assumptions below, write a differential equation model of this system. Firsttime car buyers are buying gas-powered cars at a constant rate of m per month. Owners of gas-powered cars are switching to EVs at a percapita rate proportional to the number of EVs they see around town. The rate at which rsttime car buyers buy an EV is inuenced by the number of other people already owning EVs. Some people chose to own an EV because they thought it made them cool and dierent from others. Thus, an EVowner will sell their EV and purchase a new gas-powered car at a rate proportional to the number of EVs. Unfortunately for EV owners switching to gaspowered vehicles, it takes on average 4 months from order to delivery for new gas-powered cars due to supply chain problems.
