Please edit and add in sources to help support what i wrote.Even though the Welsch language has been around for what appears to be the beginning of time like most it evolves and changes happen. The Welsch language has been at risk due to a variety of factors such as historical, social and political. The first major reason that the Welsch language has been at risk is because of colonialism and political domination. The Acts of Union incorporated Wales into the Kingdom of England, making English the language of administration, law and education. As a result of the Acts of Union the Welsch language became very marfinalized since it was no longer used in written works. The second affect was the suppression of Welsch, after the Acts Of Union happened more and more suppression occurred. Schools turned to only English, courts, public offices, and any other major places where people had to go all they spoke was English, Welsch was no longer the language used.
The industrial revolution of the th century also had a major impact for the Welsch language becoming at risk because of the revolution a lot more English speakers migrated to Welsch industrial areas, and as a result of that more people assimilated with the English speakers because it was easier to discuss with them in conversation then making the English speakers sit down and learn the Welsch language.
Their were also economic factors that did have an impact on the Welsch language, such as economic opportunities. English became associated with economic advancements and social mobility, which in turn encouraged Welsch speakers to adopt English for better job proscpects and educational opportunities. It also helped when it came to global dominance of English especially with technology, business because it was essential for wales to speak English in order to cause economic growth. As a result of this the Welsch language really did become marginalized because not many people spoke it and not many people were willing to learn it
