Typically, the bottle is filled with 0.89 quart (yes - they don't use SI units) of water. Lets assume CO2 is injected at room temperature and at a pressure of 3 bar. (a) (3 points) How much CO2 (total moles) will be dissolved in the water? You will need Henry's law coefficients. Look them up; cite your references. Assume the system is at equilibrium with the CO2 cylinder. (b) (3 points) Prof. Kulkarni is having a party; everyone is vaccinated and boost-ed. Instead of water, we will use the SodaStream to carbonate vodka. How much CO2 will be dissolved in this case? Assume that vodka is a mixture of only water and ethanol (look up the composition), and Raoults law is applicable. (c) (2 points) Solve (b) but now using ASPEN and the NRTL model for ethanol and water. We'll discuss NRTL on Friday afternoon (Jan 21).
