2. Two water tanks at atmospheric pressure are connected near the bottom of each tank by a 100m long galvanised iron pipe (internal diameter 50 mm, & = 0.15 mm) as shown in Figure 1. The water level in the first tank is 10 m above the level in the second tank. Both of the pipe- tank connections are re-entrant and are submerged. The pipe includes two open ball valves and four regular 90 elbows. The minor loss coefficients are given in the figure. Selecting a suitable minor loss coefficient for the exit to tank 2, and making suitable assumptions, determine the flow rate at 20C between tanks.
