2:17 AM Sun Sep 13 9% RW.1 copy Home Insert Draw Layout Review View Calibri Regular (B 11 00 DU A. Stat 30100 Real World 1 We are going to go through the process of conducting a statistical study and analyze data from MyStatLabs this semester. Prepare: Context: What do the data mean? What is the goal of the study? Source: What is the source objective, is the source biased? Sampling: Does the method influence the validity of the conclusion? Voluntary response (self- selected?) Bias? We will use the data set MSL Grades.xdsx for all five Real World problems this semester. (You will be using a statistical analysis program called Statcrunch in Mylabs to analyze this dataset for the future Real World problems, but you won't need it for this first assignment.) Below is a description of the data, how it was collected, and what the variables mean. Use this description to answer the questions of preparation. The dataset consists of data collected from a random sample of 60 students from one instructor in Stat 30100. Thirty students were randomly chosen from the online class and 30 were chosen from the traditional face-to-face class. The variables recorded are the student's final grade percentage in the course, the amount of time they spent on their Study Plan in MyStatLabs, the number of Mastery Points they achieved at the end of the semester, and what type of class they are in. 1.) Identify the population for this study. Students in Stat30100 2.) What is the unit or individual for the study? 3.) What type of sampling method is described? 4.) What is a question we could ask and test using this data? (For Example: "Do students who are in the online course score better than the face to face students ?") 5.) Is the source of the data blased? 6.) Does the sampling method described influence the validity of the conclusion? 7.) What other factors or variables would you want included in the dataset which may affect grades? 2:18 AM Sun Sep 13 8%D MSL Grades copy Home Insert Draw Formulas Data Review View Calibri (Body) 11 B I UB ARC 123 IM fx ClassType Mastery Total Time Spring Grade 90 28 8918 75.49 NO 384 95.78 539 21 1454 7129 8968 8253 92 127 50 BI 720 F 9521 91 74 12224 90 50 NO 2280 12 1513 EN 9335 0.07 9714 35.36 8443 29 os 10 2519 7 GU 61 69 98 90 121 20 F 8574 57.26 4 127 87 79 99 94 274 1129 1560 114 211 218 ES 2003 9513 7575 9415 70.78 121 Online Online Online Online Online Online 90 2 71 49 95 18 587 723 373 21 89 78 9519 924 733 1354 6309 1491 Online Online Online Online Online Online Online 50 95 GA M T3 TS 30 102 183 540 9454 8479 200 51 TA 7358 Online 81 10 1941 59 74 70 1055 Online Online Online Online Online Online Online Online Online Online Online Online 75. 95.78 16 511 42 93.58 83 54 AS 3333 237 NG 97 Study Plan (20) +
