(28 marks) An equimolar vapor mixture of n-hexane and n-butane specified at 120 C and 1.0 atm flows at a rate of 150.0 L/s. The stream is cooled and compressed, which causes majority (not all) of the vapor to condense. Two streams emerge from the process, one a liquid product stream and the other a vapor product stream at specified temperature T( C) and 1100 mmHg. Treat this process as a single-unit operation process and assume the product streams are in equilibrium. The vapor product contains 60.0 mole % butane. Please state all valid assumptions and answer the following questions. Do not round-off until your final answer, where you can provide the answer to 2 decimal places. 4.1 Draw a labeled diagram for this process and calculate the degrees of freedom of this process. Comment on your findings from the Dof Analysis. 4.2 Explain how you would solve this problem, i.e., what balances, tables, charts and laws etc. you would use to solve the problem (3) 4.3 Calculate the temperature T( C) of the exit streams. (6) 4.4 Calculate the liquid molar compositions (X) and the inlet and both product molar flowrates. (10) 4.5 Based on your calculated answers, do you think the assumptions and laws are valid for this process? Explain. (3)
