3 3 Evaluate storage facilities

Photograph or sketch the chemical storage area at the nursery (the storage area may include the storing of hazardous substances so you must take suitable precautions including consulting with your supervisor).

Use that to identify and evaluate the applicable regulatory requirements and safety measures that are in place. Your response need to address:-

• The type of installation
• The segregation of chemicals
• The construction of the storage facility
• Washing facilities
• Heat and ignition sources
• Fire protection and emergency planning
• Ease of handling
• Use of warning signs
• Access to SDS product labels

If you identify the storage is inadequate or the measures are inappropriate indicate what you would recommend. Ensure you cite the relevant legislation, regulation, code of practice or industry standard applicableto support your recommendation.
