3 As Product Manager for Onceler Corp, you are responsible for their leading product, Thneeds (a line of cosy, leisurewear made from the tufts of Truffula trees). Much of the company is quite "siloed" - Sales and Marketing rarely talk to Product Design, Finance doesn't interact with Quality Assurance and no one talks to Human Resources. However, as Product Manager, you work extensively with each of these groups. (For example, you help Product Design understand current fashion trends, help Finance set pricing and help Sales and Marketing design campaigns and forecast revenues. You even work with HR to make sure staffing levels meet projected market growth.) This morning, you received alarming news. Given the increasing scarcity of Truffula Trees, there is likely to be Federal regulation setting maximum harvest quotas for each season. Under similar circumstances several decades ago, the company responded with a tree planting campaign and most employees assume that this tact will be used again. However, you have a more radical, and innovative plan. You would like to introduce a Thneed recycling program. Your idea is to allow customers to turn in old, worn-out Thneeds for a small refund. While your company has never done it, it IS possible to break down old Thneeds back into Truffula tuft fiber that is almost, but not quite, as fluffy as the original. Your plan is to introduce a line of Thneed workout and bathing wear that uses this less fluffy fiber. The Product Design people are very excited about this, as they haven't had an opportunity to create something truly different in years. Finance, however, is dead set against it, worried that customers won't be enticed by small refunds and helping the planet. Marketing and Sales seem to be somewhat ambivalent at this point. You will present your plan 6 weeks from now at the annual "Mulberry Street, Strategy Retreat," but you want to make sure most of the company is already on board by then. Focusing on what you have learned about Managing Change (though drawing from other topic areas as well, if you wish), explain IN DETAIL what steps you should take and why
