In the book This is Lean, Modig & hlstrm uses a "four-fielder" with the terms Resource Efficiency and Flow Efficiency on the shoulders to describe the principles within Lean.
In most production systems in factories and workshops, it is almost impossible to achieve the perfect condition with optimal resource efficiency AND optimal flow efficiency. a) Describe why in real production systems it is in principle impossible to reach the perfect state, symbolized by a star in the figure.
b) Give examples of three concrete measures that would cause a workshop with manual assembly, such as assembly of white goods such as washing machines or refrigerators, to move in the direction of a more flow-efficient system.
