However, there is one final decision to be made. If the university opts to place the stadium in location 1 then it will be located in the heart of campus. This will have the positive benefit of making the game day experience for those attending the game better in that they will be able to tailgate on campus while still being very close to the stadium. This will have the negative outcome of eliminating 1,000 beds in student dormitories in order to make space for the stadium. If the university opts to place the stadium in location 2 then it will be located on the periphery of campus. This location will mean that those attending the game will either have to tailgate in the parking lot of the stadium in order to be close by, or if they choose to tailgate on campus, they will have a bit further of a trek to get to the stadium. This location will however mean that there will be no on-campus student dormitories affected. However, it will mean the loss of 200 off-campus privately owned apartments (while privately owned, it can be assumed that many renters are students but that some are just residents of Mobile). In thinking about this problem, keep in mind the composition of those who attend football games: faculty and staff while many will attend they do not represent a large number of people; students many will attend but many will not, given that it will now be on or near campus attendance will likely increase among students as even some that are not interested in football will now go just because it is close by and something to do; alumni this group will likely form one of the larger contingents of attendees, former students and their families who either live here or will travel here for games; general population this is likely the largest contingent of attendees, regular people living or traveling here to attend the games; and finally opponent supporters these will be people affiliated with (faculty, staff, students, family members) or fans of the other team that choose to travel to the game, the number of these attendees will vary with the distance needed to travel and the popularity of the opponent and at times could be quite a small number (think about when Idaho plays us in Mobile) or quite a big number (imagine if LSU or Alabama ever agreed to play USA in Mobile).
