Traditional environmental problems include lack of access to safe drinking water or improved sanitation and indoor air pollution, caused by burning of solid fuels for cooking. Modern problems are associated with ambient air pollution (PM2.5 and ozone). (a) In 2015 how high were deaths associated with traditional environmental problems in low-income, low-middle and upper-middle income countries? Contrast this with deaths associated with modern pollution problems. (b) What are the externalities associated with each of the traditional environmental problems? (c) Solutions to each of the traditional problems-home drinking water disinfection; latrines with slabs; using improved stoves/LPG stoves - require household cooperation.
