financing his postgraduate studies in London. James promised to repay the loan in

January 2016. James returned from London in 2015. However, until today 7 February

2020 he has not repaid the loan although he has received numerous reminders from Rex.

Last month, Rex confronted James at a family gathering and threatened to take legal

action to recover the loan. James then orally promised to settle the loan within one week.

However, James did not keep his promise. Rex now wishes to sue James for breach of

contract and recover the outstanding debt.

Required:

Advise Rex on his chances of success.
