$5.$ I am a Democratic United States senator$,$ serving in Washington, D$.$C$.$ and representing the beautiful state of California. I won my last re$-$election campaign in $2020$ and enjoy support from more than $68\%$ of California's registered voters. This past August, I was traveling through South Dakota when I stopped at a gas station for a rest. I went inside and there I saw an entire display of the best candy bar ever devised: Reese$$s Take $5($a delightful mix of peanut butter, pretzel, caramel, peanuts all covered in milk chocolate$).$ Not wanting to wait in the long cashier line, I took two of these candy bars, as well as a $20$ oz$.$ bottle of Coca$-$Cola, and placed them in my duffle bag. I then exited the store without paying for these items. Once outside the store, I was detained by a security guard who called the police. Long story short, I was arrested for shoplifting and fined $$245($which I have since paid$).$ Fox News had a field$-$day with my embarrassment and soon the whole state of California was consumed with wanting to throw me out of office. A state$-$wide group of voters claim that they have enough signatures on file to mandate a recall election in an effort to throw me out of office. My wife said that she is worried, but I just laughed when I heard that news. Why am I not concerned about such a potential recall election?
