Read the following articles: Argentina IMF Agreement and New Economy Minister Pledge The Argentinian currency, the Peso, has been floating rate since 2016, with the Argentine government targeting inflation. Prior to this Argentina has had various currency regimes all of which ended in large devaluations, hyperinflation or debt default. Argentina's debt to the IMF ranks above (is paid out prior to) all other debt. Note the expected inflation rates in Argentina. Argentina's currency has continued to depreciate since this agreement was signed. Answer the following questions: (15 pts.) a. Based on what we have learned from our models of exchange rates, do you expect the Peso to continue to depreciate? Explain why. b. What do think the effect your answer in a. implies for Argentina's ability to repay its international debts, which are denominated in dollars. c. If you were Minister Massa's position, what is the first item would you attempt to get the President and Vice President to address regarding Argentina's situation?
