5. Suppose that we are interested in the total number of COVID-19 s incurred by different countries since the start of this year. Table 1 below displays the values of this variable, in millices of cases, as at March 29 2022, for a selection of countries. This data is based on the cavidlive.com.au website, and was originally obtained from JHU CSSE COVID-19 * Country of COVID-19 Ces in 2022 (millions) New Variable South Korea UK Germany 11.37 8.03 12.32 Italy 8.38 Fre 15.37 Japan 4.66 Australia 198 Brazil 7.57 USA 25.65 Gree 1.76 Thailand 1.33 Turkey 5.36 Table 1: Number of new COVID-19 Cases Se 2022. For this question, you must find a new variable of your choice which has reconded mesurements for the countries listed in Table 1. Your aim will be to ass whether your chosen variable has a correlation with the number of COVID-19. Marks will not be allocated according to whether there is correlation present, but rather based on the appro priateness of your selection. For the data to be appropriate the following conditions must be satisfied: The data you collect for this question needs to be easily accessible, for us to check, for at least 10 of the countries that are listed in Table 1. This also means that the data must be actual memements associated with these countr Your data must be recent (data collected from the years between eg, 2016 and 2022 is fine). If possible, all data should be from the same year, but we understand if for some countries, the data is from a different year (as long as it is still a recent your). All values of the new variable must be in the same units for each of the countries. For example, if you choose a variable that is measured in per 10 million members of the population for one country, then you need to also record the data for all other countries in units of per 10 million members of the population. Note that the units of measurement for the new variable do not need to be the same as those for the of COVID-19 Cases variable. See http://olive.com.au/world/cam "Sttp//th.com/CSSBGBandData COVID-19 Once you have found a suitable viable, complete the following question. (a) Briefly describe below the new variable that you have chosen. Include (i) the units it is measured in and (i) link and a description of where you found the data. (b) Enter the values that you have collected for your new variable under the column odled New variable in Table 1. The new variable value for each country needs to appear in the space provided on that row of the table (eg the new variable's value for South Korea should be directly to the right of the value 11.37 in the table). Make sure that your new variable includes values for at least 10 countries in Table 1. (4 marks) (e) Enter the data from your completed Table 1. including the data for your new variable, into Excel, and create a scatter plot of the two variables (# of COVID-19 Cases in 2022 (millions) & New Variable). Make sure that you include appropriate axis labels. Copy and paste this scatter plot into your assignment solutions document. (4 marks) (d) Using Excel, calculate the correlation between these two tables. What is it equal to and what Excel formala did you use to obtain it? (4 marks) (e) Provide some brief comments on what you see in the scatter plot and also on what you think the correlation valne tell you. For example, does there appear to be a linear relationship between the two variables? Are there any specific countries with surprising ults?
