1. A 19-year-old male with a part-time job was accused of stealing a backpack during a community festival. After he was arrested the judge set his bail at $1,000 with 10%, meaning he was eligible to be released upon the payment of $100.00. However, neither he nor his family could come up with $100.00 so the 19-year-old spent 4 months in jail awaiting his hearing which resulted in him losing his job even though he was eventually found not guilty of the crime.
