A 2-month study is conducted to assess the relationship between the consumption of natural licorice and the development of hypokalemia. A total of 100 otherwise healthy volunteers are enrolled. Half of the volunteers are asked to avoid licorice and the other half are asked to consume licorice daily, along with their regular diet.
