A 3x2 (six treatment groups) factorial study was conducted to determine the results of two factors on the effectiveness of various approaches to meeting someone. One factor, with three levels, was the approach to be used by the male student (casual conversation, humor, or a pick-up line.) The other factor, with two levels, was the attractiveness of the male student (attractive, unattractive). Both the attractive and the unattractive male students approached 15 different, randomly selected, female students (Total N=30). Both used one of the three approaches with five of the female students. Outcome success was measured by length of the conversation (time) between the male student and the female student who was approached.
