The child's symptoms were fever of 102.6 for 2 days, stomach ache, body rash, and cold hands and feet. The child was rapid tested for COVID-19 by antigen immunoassay testing, using the ELISA technique, with results coming back as positive for COVID-19. On the second day of hospitalization, the attending physician performed an problem focused interval history, an expanded problem focused exam, with medical decision making of moderate complexity. The patient's temperature was down to 101.3; however, the stomach ache and body rash still persisted. The patient was discharged to home on the third day in the hospital, with a final diagnosis of COVID-19 and PIMS. The parents were counseled for 55 minutes regarding continuing care and followup before discharge.
