  1. A 60Hz, 500MVA mathcal 22kV Y connected, solidly grounded generator is operating at rated voltage at no load. The generator is disconnected  from the rest of the system. Its reactances are X^ prime prime 4 = X_{1} = X_{2} = 0  15 and X_{0} = 0.05 per unit.

  2. a. Find the ratio of the sub transient line current for a single line-to-ground fault to the sub  VID  transient line current for asymmetrical three-phase fault.

  3. b. Find the ratio of the sub transient line current for a line-to-line fault to the sub-transient  current for a symmetrical three-phase fault on the generator.

  4. c. Determine the inductive reactance in ohms to be inserted in the neutral connection of the generator to limit the sub transient line current for a single line-to-ground fault to that for a 1  3 * 6o  three-phase fault.

  5. d. With the inductive reactance found in part e inserted in the neutral of the generator find the ratios of the sub-transient line currents for the following faults to the sub-transient line current for a three-phase fault:  1. single line-to-ground fault, 2. line-to-line fault, and  3. double line-to-ground fault.

  6. e. How many ohms of resistance in the neutral connection of the generator would limit the sub- transient line current for a single line-to-ground fault to that for a three-phase fault?
