A. Activity 2: Combined Volume

Materials:

cup of sugar

1 cup of water

Transparent drinking glass

Procedure:

1. Put a 1/4 cup of sugar in a transparent drinking glass.

2. Add the 1 cup of water to the sugar. Mix it thoroughly using the spoon until all the sugar dissolves in water.

3. Observe.Focus your observation on volume of sugar and water mixture.

B.Analysis 2

1. What is the total volume of unmixed 1/4 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water?

2. This time what is the volume of mixed sugar and water: equal, more than or less than 1 and cup? Why?

3. Draw the particles of sugar and salt to explain your answer in number 2. Represent the particles of sugar using and the particles of water using O.Take note that the particles of sugar are bigger compared to the particles of water.Label the last container by selecting from the following options:equal, more than or less than 1and cup of sugar and water mixture.
