a) Ah Chan owned a business, Ah Chan & Sons, selling heavy duty electrical products. John, on 16 September 2021, bought from Ah Chan a new generator and a second- hand reconditioned drilling equipment for use in his factory. John took delivery of the drilling equipment on the same day whilst the generator was to be delivered to John on 20 September 2021. However, on 17 September, Ah Ming, a long-time customer of Ah Chan, enquired about the generator and told Ah Chan that he needed the generator urgently as his existing one had broken down. The generator was the only one in stock and Ah Chan reluctantly sold it to Ah Ming who arranged for immediate delivery of it. John was later told of the sale. A week later police entered John's factory and took possession of the drilling equipment bought from Ah Chan on the ground that it was part of stolen items from Jet Hardware Sdn Bhd whose store was broken into two months ago. Ah Chan bought it from the thief without knowledge that it was stolen. Advise John as to his rights with respect to the above-mentioned items. b) Jennifer, a gardening enthusiast, visited Garden House who are dealers in rare exotic flower seeds. After going through some brochures, Jennifer decided to buy 10 packets of "Gloriosa Superba Seeds". According to Jack, the proprietor, these seeds are very hardy and require very little nurturing. Four months later, when the flowers bloomed, Jennifer discovered that there was no resemblance to the picture on the packet. The seeds were actually of very low grade and belong to very different variety to what was shown to her. Advise Jennifer on her rights
