A bridge is proposed to be built across the Ala Wai Canal that would connect Kalaimoku Street and University Avenue. Due to environmental concerns, the bridge is proposed to be supported by shallow foundations.

The Ala Wai Canal is also proposed to be dredged approximately 10 feet below the existing mudline as a part of this project.

An anchored bulkhead is proposed to be installed along the makai Ala Wai Canal walls to support and prevent damage to the existing historical canal walls.

Design the proposed makai bridge abutment cantilever wall

  • Check for overturning, sliding, liftoff, general slope stability, and bearing capacity failure

  • Provide the dimensions necessary to construct the wall

Design the proposed makai anchored bulkhead walls. Provide:

  • Minimum sheet pile wall embedment depth
  • Deadman anchor dimensions
  • Deadman anchor minimum setback
