(a) Chlorobenzene, toluene, pentachlorophenol and chloroform in an aqueous solution were fed into an incinerator at 85L/min and accounted for 8.5,9.0,5.3 and 7.8% of the feed solution on a volume basis, respectively. The incinerator was operated at a temperature of 1000C. The stack gas flow rate was 6.7m3/s with 10% oxygen. Assume that all the chlorine in the feed is converted to HCl. The concentration of the emission which is measured downstream of the Air Pollution Control (APC) is shown in Table below. (i) Calculate the Destruction and Removal Efficiency (DRE) for chlorobenzene, toluene, pentachlorophenol and chloroform (4 Marks) (ii) Calculate the release rate of HCl (3 Marks) (iii) Is the unit in compliance with the Resource Conversation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulation with regards to DRE,HCl and stack particulates emission if the emissions are measured downstream of the APC equipment? (3 Marks) Hint: DRE required is 99.99%,HCl,1.8kg/hr and particulates, 180mg/dscm
