A co-worker in your organization was asked by their supervisor to prepare a 40- second speech for delivery the following day. The supervisor planned to read the speech to a selection committee as part of a proposal. It should be something like reading a cover letter, the supervisor explained.
Fortunately, the co-worker didnt despair because they had learned to research in their office administration course, and they were sure they could come up with something! Next day, just before the selection committee meeting, your co-worker gave the speech to their supervisor for presentation. It read as follows:
Members of the Proposal Committee, Im just preparing my impromptu remarks and fear that the length of this document defends it well against the risk of its being read. However, the proposal that I put before you today not only is revolutionary in design but also marks another improvement in the way we do things; an improvement to the processes that are not serving us well today.
To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often. So, I suggest to you that this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.
While the supervisor was pleased with the writing style and the composition, the committee failed to be impressed. Even though the concept and timing were perfect, something else bothered them. What do you think it was? Now do some research on the words and phrases found in the composition.
Whats the procedure? You decide.
