A computer is reading data from a rotating CD-ROOM. At a point that is 0.0230 meters from the center of the disk, the centripetal acceleration is 159 m/s^2. What is the centripetal acceleration at a point that is 0.0722 meters from the center of the disc? Below is a picture of my work. I think I am doing everything right until the point that is highlighted. I don't understand why it's wrong to cross multiple. The box in the lower right that is highlighted in pink is the way to do the right answer (the correct answer is 499)But I just don't understand why we're dividing the radiuses first and then multiplying by the centripetal acceleration. Why is it wrong to cross multiple? And how does it make sense to do it the way they're doing it? Shouldn't we be multiplying my 1/159 then? Since we're moving 159 to the other side? I'm just really confused...
