A continuous and aligned fiber-reinforced composite is to be produced consisting of 30 vol% aramid fibers with the polymeric matrix of polycarbonate. Mechanical properties (modulus of elasticity and ultimate tensile strength) of the fibers and the matrix are given in the following table. Assuming both longitudinal and transverse directions of fibers as shown. Aramid fibers Polycarbonate E=131GPa E=2.4 GPS Sult-3600MPa Sult-65 MPa If the stress of 50 MPa is applied to the longitudinal direction, stress and strain values on the matrix and the fiber respectively are: Matrix (3 MPa, 0%) and fiber (160 MPa, 0.122%) Matrix (3 MPa, 0.122%) and fiber (160 MPa, 0.122%) Matrix (160 MPa, 0.122%) and fiber (3 MPa, 0%) Matrix (160 MPa, 0.122%) and fiber (3 MPa, 0.122%)
