A description of an artwork may include: a) An interpretation of the message or meaning of the work. b) An evaluative statement regarding the success of the work. c) A basic statement regarding narrative or allegorical subject matter. i.e. "This painting represents a scene from the French Revolution," or "This is a sculptural representation of Canto V from Dante's Inferno." d) An application of aesthetic theory
