  2. B. Determine the linear acceleration and the angular acceleration of the planet. Show all work and explain your reasoning.
  3.  C.  What is the net torque on planet? Show all work and explain your reasoning.
  4. D.  Determine the linear momentum and the angular momentum of the planet. Show all work and explain your reasoning.
  5. E. Determine the mass of the Star.  explain your reasoning.

An astronomer is trying to estimate the mass of a star in a galaxy far, far away. They have the following information. There is only a single planet orbiting the star. The planet follows a nearly circular orbit around the star with an orbital radius of 8 X 10 8 meters and moves at constant speed. The radius of the planet is 1.2 X 10 6 meters and the mass of the planet is 7 X 10 22 kg. The planet makes one complete revolution around the star in 30 hours. In the figure at right (not drawn to scale) the arrow shows the direction of travel (clockwise).
