A furniture company sells outdoor patio tables and chairs. Tables sell for $400 and chairs for $200. All items are made of wood. Tables require 16 pieces of wood, and chairs require 12 pieces of wood. Unfortunately, as a start-up business, they are low on cash, so they can only afford to use up to 156 pieces of wood per week. It takes 1 hour to assemble a table and 3 hours to do the same for a chair. To make this a worthwhile venture and keep the business going, the company figure they need to spend at least 12 hours a week on assembly. Lastly, each table and chair is individually shaped which takes 2 hours for tables and 4 hours for chairs. The company can spend no more than 32 hours on shaping. They make a profit of $75 on each table and $60 on each chair. Develop and solve a linear programming model for this problem. What is the optimal solution for this business?
