A group of researchers randomized the assignment of 50 randomly selected participants suffering from Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus for a study investigating a new medication aimed at controlling blood glucose levels. Subjects were randomly assigned to the treatment or control group. Every morning, subjects in the treatment group were required to take the newly formulated pill, and vitals such as blood pressure, blood glucose and temperature were measured continuously at designated times throughout the study. Subjects in the control group were not given anything but had their vitals taken similar to the treatment group. The study ran for 6 months. Neither the subjects nor the clinicians monitoring the health of the participants knew to which group the subjects belonged. Is there an area in the study design that makes it invalid? If yes, what could be done to make it right? Choose the best answer Q A) No. This is an observational study and thus is adequate. O B) Yes. This was not a double-blinded study. 6) C) No. The study is valid meeting characteristics of a true randomized controlled experiment. 0 D) Yes. A study with only 50 participants is not adequate, there should be a minimum of 100 participants taking place to be valid. 0 E) Yes. The control group should have received a pill that is physically very similar to the treatment pill but is compositionally inactive.
