A hydraulic pump is powered by a single cylinder engine. The mass of the 500 mm long connecting rod is 3 kg and its moment of inertia about the CG is 0.2 kg.mÂș with its CG lying at 200 mm from its crank pin. In order to simplify analysis, 2 dynamic models for the connecting rod are proposed: the first is an exact model, whereas the second is an approximate model

i Find the place and the value of the masses for the exact model.

ii. Find the value of the masses for the approximate model.

iii. Compare the obtained moment of inertia of the approximate model to its exact value and find the percentage of error in calculations.

iv. Explain how an approximate model can be useful for such analysis
