a) identify which forms of reliability were assessed, b) the process in which each was assessed, and c) what was determined about the quality of that form of reliability (using the terminology from lecture).

Dr. Espinoza has created a new parent-report questionnaire to assess emotion regulation in young children. They have 50 mothers complete this measure and also a parallel measure that they have developed that they believe to be relatively equal to the first form. After three weeks, the mothers return and complete the original form again.

After all data collection is complete, Dr. Espinoza correlates the mothers' scores from the original measure that was completed at the first visit with the same measure completed at the second visit and the correlation is .81. The correlation between the original measure and the parallel form was calculated at .72. Dr. Espinoza then divides all the items on the original form into even and odd numbered items, sums the total from each subset of items and finds that (after the standard correction) the item subsets correlate at .67. Finally, they run an analysis that correlates each item on the original scale with every other item on the original scale and the resultant statistic is .79.
