A logging company had a crew on the worksite. The usual operator of the tree farmer machine called in sick that morning. In order to keep the days production, the supervisor told a junior operator with little experience to fill in. A ground crewman hooked-up a cable to a large log stuck in a pile. The junior operator began to pull the log and he found it was stuck. The ground crewman climbed over the logs to see the stuck log. Just as the junior tree farmer operator decided to pull the cable very quickly to release the stuck log, the cable snapped like an elastic band. The broken cable flew towards the tree farmer striking the ground crew man and shattering the cracked windshield showering the new worker with glass. The ground crewman suffered a broken arm and several ribs. The junior operator received several cuts and lost an eye. You were told by the Supervisor to investigate the accident.
