A major investment bank in Wall Street has hired you as an external consultant to conduct assessments about various aspects of their organizational climate (shared perceptions about policies/procedures/practices). They are interested in collecting this information because in the past two years they have seen patterns of low work engagement (employees not energized while in the office, interested in their work, and dedicated to their jobs) as well as high levels of voluntary turnover intentions (a considerable number of employees are seriously considering leaving the organization). Senior leaders are concerned that employees' perceptions about the organizational climate may be contributing to low engagement and high turnover intentions. Thus, you have two main objectives: one objective is to gather information about employees' perceptions of organizational climate. The other objective is to find out whether there are certain aspects of the climate that employees do not like (and therefore may be contributing to the negative outcomes). Keep in mind that working as a banker in Wall Street is not as fabulous as it may be seen. Investment bankers have very demanding working hours (working 80 hours/week is a norm), have a poor work-life balance, and face a lot of job demands (high job pressure, harsh performance appraisal system) while having low job control (they cannot be rebellious on the orders from clients). However, they learn a lot in a fast pace - not just learning about financial trends and markets, but also various soft skills like communications and critical thinking skills. And of course, an investment banker is one of the most lucrative jobs.
You now want to use the information gathered during the focus groups to develop items for an employee survey. Assume that you found a great deal agreement between employees about the negative aspects of organizational climates.
give two sample survey items each for each of the following climates: 1. Organizational Culture. 2. psychological climate
you will need to write two sample items foreach of the climates. Also, decide thetarget respondents of your survey. Why? * You need to generate the sample items on your own. You cannot simply take them from scales that already exist. *b In total, you need to give at least four items. Your items will be clearly written and do not include double-barrel, double negative, leading or loaded contents.
