A major new residential development with total area of 9000 donums is expected to boost the economy of Jarash governorate. It will involve re allocation of 500 families from three affected villages. This project will cause two major water catchments area to be affected. As the project is economically driven rather than environmentally, the environmental NGOs are against the project approval. The governor of Jarash would want an environmental impact assessment to be carried out within 3 months to prove that the project will be beneficial if the mitigating measures qre good.
