A manufacturing plant is working on the development of a new set of aluminum plates. One of the special characteristics of this new product is the part length. Following the APQP guidelines, all special characteristics need to be controlled and the respective APQP tasks related to special characteristics quality control need to be completed before the product manufacturing begins. One of the APQP tasks during the product development is to create an MSA plan for the special characteristics. The MSA Plan is normally done by the Quality Engineer or Process Engineer, and can include the 3 MSA steps studied in this course (Resolution, Accuracy and Precision). The part length specification of one of the aluminum plates is 202.500 mm +/-0.150 mm. The part length is planned to be measured by the quality inspector once every hour, when running production, under normal ambient conditions. There is only one shift per day in this manufacturing plant.
