A minor, walking across the street in anywhere, Maryland decides today is the day to make it big. He starts by knocking 'grandma' down in the cross walk. Next, he hits the 7-11 and takes a bag of chips, leaving without paying for it. As he leaves, he notices an unattended idling car. He jumps in and drives the car to his girlfriend's house. He picks her up as they are leaving, he hits another grandma crossing the street and keeps on driving.

What crimes could he be charged with? Would some of those crimes be known as "common law" crimes? What protection does the constitution guarantee him once he is charged with a crime? Does the type of victim matter in the charging of a crime?
