A mixture stream containing 50 kmol/h of sorbitol, 750 kmol/h of water and 6000 kmol/h of hydrogen leaves a reactor at 145 C and 70 barg. It is then cooled and sent to a flasher to be separated into a gas stream of hydrogen for recycle back to the reactor and the product stream of sorbitol aqueous solution. The flasher is to be operated at a temperature in the range of 50-100 C and the pressure of 50 barg. By assuming the thermodynamic equilibrium is the only control factor for the separation, you are asked to

calculate the composition of the gas and sorbitol product streams in the temperature range interested by:

(a) taking the system as an ideal system

(b) taking the system as a real system

(c) plot the molar faction of hydrogen and sorbitol as a function of operation temperature.
