A November 2022 article by Statcounter claims that Google Chrome is the most popular web browser in the United States, accounting for 65.8% of web traffic. In Part II, you will estimate the proportion of Clemson students who use Chrome as their primary web browser, using the data collected in the STAT 2300 Student Survey. As the survey respondents were not randomly selected from the population of all Clemson students, we must make the assumption that the respondents are representative of all Clemson students with respect to their primary web browser.

1-What proportion of STAT 2300 students use Chrome as their primary web browser? To answer this question, open the Student Survey data file posted to the Canvas page for the STAT 2301 labs. To determine the sample proportion:

• From the open JMP data table, select Analyze > Distribution.
• Select Browser as the Y, Columns
• Click OK.

Record the proportion of respondents who selected Chrome as their primary web browser. Give your answer correct to three decimal places

2-Define the parameter that a confidence interval for the proportion of Clemson students who use Chrome as their primary web browser would be estimating. Give the appropriate symbol and define it in words.

3-State and verify that the conditions for constructing a confidence interval for the proportion of Clemson students who use Chrome as their primary web browser have been met. Note: Type "p-hat" if you want to refer to the sample proportion when stating a condition.

4-Construct a 95% confidence interval for the proportion of Clemson students who use Chrome as their primary web browser. Show your calculations and round your final answer to two decimal places. Note: Show your values plugged into the formula using the "insert > equation" option above your text box ( button).

5-Interpret your 95% confidence interval.

6-Does your interval provide evidence that Chrome is more popular among Clemson students than the Statcounter article reports that it is among the general U.S. population? Explain.
