A person can claim privacy rights depending on the user agreement they sign, and how their user information is being obtained and used depending on the state or country they live. Such as with the GDPR or European data act certain websites must give notice and only use the information for specific purposes. Though depending on where you are located, you may run into the fact that you are not covered, and the use of social media sites opens up the fact that your user information can be used.

The internet is open facing, it was created to connect all. With that stated, when you put your information on an open facing website your information is now open to all, further by putting any information outside of your local network you face issues with hackers and cyber threats obtaining that information. Privacy on the internet does not exist, if you want information private keep it in a safe at home, as soon as you digitalize information and put it on a information system you have increased risk of that information being taken.

Can a person claim privacy rights when they use social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter? Why is this difficult to define?  Can there be such a thing a privacy on the Internet?
