A Pizza restaurant, Ion Pizza, has started its own late-night delivery service in Vancouver. To promote sales, Ion Pizza guarantees that all pizzas will be delivered within fifty minutes or they will be free. While the fifty-minute promise is kept in most cases, it places considerable stress on the delivery drivers. The drivers' stress is amplified by the fact that they are fined twenty-five percent of the cost of any pizza not delivered within the fifty-minute window. To prevent this fine, drivers often feel compelled to drive above the posted speed limits around Vancouver. In one recent case, a driver attempting to meet the fifty-minute deadline failed to notice another vehicle in his path and collided with it.
