A principle of the National Spatial Development Perspective (NSDP) includes the following:

a.Countering constraints such as insufficient decisive leadership in policy development and implementation.

b.To overcome the spatial distortions of apartheid, future settlement and economic development opportunities should be channeled into activity corridors and nodes that are adjacent to or that link the main growth centres.

c.An area for macro-economic improvement is in expenditure management, particularly in government capital investment.

d.Reducing the skills shortage of professionals, managers and artisans.
