Unit weight of the sand above water table is 18 kN/m². The average of representative SPT blow counts (corrected for overburden pressure) is calculated as 25. The weight of raft is 30 000 kN. Calculate the load due to superstructure that can be applied on the foundation so that the settlement of the raft does not exceed 10 cm and a factor of safety of FS = 2.5 is provided against bearing capacity. (Hint: You may use Peck, Hanson and Thornburn Charts for required correlations.)
