A regenerative furnace uses producer gas as a fuel. The gas is burned with 10 per Kent excess air. The temperature of the air and gas just before combustion averages 800C., while the temperature at the entrance to the checkers averages 1400C., and at the exit 600C. From the checkers, the flue gases pass to chimney. The composition of the gas is (CO 22%, CO 8%, H2 11%, CH4 2%, HO 4%, N2 53%). Find: a) The theoretical average temperature of the flame b) The efficiency of the regeneration c) The percentage of the total heat entering the furnace which is lost in the chimney gases, and the amount of this percentage if the checkers were not used.
